A rare collection of eighteen Indian birds by James Gardner- taxidermist to Queen Victoria. The modelling of the birds really show off this famous taxidermy firms skill, and the arrangement remains completely unfaded after all these years. There is a subtle hand painted backdrop and the specimens are naturalistically posed. This case style suggests quite an early piece perhaps around the 1860s. Taxidermy trade label verso.
