SOLD
Log #5614
Latin: Phoca vitulina
Description: This large, early Victorian taxidermy case was once the highlight of a collection formed by renowned Victorian naturalist John Colquhoun (Six March 1805 - 27 May 1885). The taxidermy was probably prepared by George Sim of Aberdeen, and if so, was a testament to his ability.
Principle works of John Colquhoun include 'The Moore And The Loch 1840', 'Loch's And Rivers 1849', 'Salmon Casts And Stray Shots 1858', and 'Sporting Days 1860'.
