Latin: Gallinula Chloropus

Description: Victorian Moorhen posed with one foot up, amongst naturalistic setting and three sided glass case with rounded edges. This case is very similar to the earliest work of celebrated taxidermist Peter Spicer of Leamington Spa, and is very likely by his hand.

Peter Spicer is regarded by most collectors as the greatest British taxidermist, his work in our opinion has never been bettered. He ran a large taxidermy company in Leamington Spa during the late 19th century and early 20th century before it passed on to his sons.
